While the previous generation Mazda3 is a car that we rate highly, it didn't particularly excel in one area to make it stand out against volume-selling rivals, like the Ford Focus, VW Golf and Vauxhall Astra.
But big changes are afoot with the third variant of the 3, with an all-new platform, a styling overhaul and a completely new direction on engine selection to the competition.
